Fear Votes for Hesitation
The year was 1901 and President Teddy Roosevelt - one of the bravest patriots of American history and a symbol of masculinity - was afraid. He was afraid to have dinner with a black man - Booker T. Washington - in the White House, as it would end up being the first time that an African-American would dine as the Presidentβs guest. President Roosevelt was scared that his racist donors would drop him, voters would leave him, and heβd lose the next election. But that fear was the exact reason he decided to do it.
𦬠Like a Buffalo
Scientists donβt know why Buffalo do this and other species donβt, but the theory (and lesson) is this... If we run from the storm - if we try to evade tomorrowβs responsibilities, today - then we do nothing but make the situation worse. Instead, if we herd up, but our heads down, and start driving our legs and donβt stop until the job is done, then we will get through the storm quicker.
