🦬 What is My Calling?
Saturday, June 22nd at 6:00am…
If you are in Vegas, or if you want to come to Vegas, you are OFFICIALLY invited to the first You Da Man group workout!
We’ll be getting a 45-minute work out in + some good ol’ fashioned fellowship (and some Muscle Milk of course)!
All ages, beliefs, and fitness levels are welcome!
If you’re interested, hit that button below and let me know so I can send you the address and other information!
Your calling is more like the circle than the dot - the sandbox rather than the bullseye.
In today’s email, we’re going to be talking about your calling…
Do you know what your calling is?
You might say “Yes.” That’s FANTASTIC!
You might say “No.” That’s ok!
But more likely, you’re saying to yourself, “Yeah, kinda sorta, basically, somewhat, deep down I mostly do… mostly.”
If you are in camp #3, then this email is for you…
I was hit with an absolute lightbulb moment this week. I found my calling. And as soon as I wrote it down, I became equal parts encouraged and frustrated that it took me so long to identify it!
“It was there all along and I was just thinking about it the wrong way!”
Here’s how I found it:
In the book Fighting Shadows by Jeff Bethke and Jon Tyson (Two weeks in a row quoting it… can you tell I liked it?), Jeff explains the difference between your “calling” vs. your “assignment” and it was mindblowing to me.
You’ve probably heard someone say, “I found my calling and it’s to be a preschool teacher” or even “God is calling me to be a missionary,” but Jeff argues (and I now agree) that these aren’t callings - these are assignments.
Rather, your calling is something bigger, broader, and more naturally engrained inside of each one of us.
And then within your calling is your assignment - one or more specific avenues where you are fit to serve.
Jeff explains that, “Your calling is more like the circle than the dot - the sandbox rather than the bullseye.”
But here’s the most encouraging part… You ready?

Some folks out there know their God-given assignment:
Preschool teacher
Missionary
Accountant that just always has a smile and good attitude at the water cooler
but a lot of us just don’t yet.
THAT’S ME!
But as the book questioned me, it became so freeing that I don’t need to know my assignment. I just need to identify my calling and work within that until God decides it’s time to reveal my assignment to me!
“Listen to the things godly people are saying about you and the things that make your heart come alive. Then go play in that sandbox. If you are in the right sandbox, you will be ready when your assignment becomes clear.”
And just like that - as naturally as possible - I wrote my calling down and it was so stupidly clear and obvious, that I just know all of you have it in you too.
So…
Why you should care…
Without thinking… without questioning… without even breathing (too much)…
I want you to write down your calling.
Don’t worry about the assignment. Don’t worry about your current circumstances. Don’t worry about justifying it.
I just want you to write down the words that have been carved into your soul since the day you were boring.
My calling?
My calling is to be a leader of men for Christ, so thank you all for allowing me to lead you on this journey that is the You Da Man Newsletter every Friday morning.
And a double thank you to all of the men who are going to be at the workout with me on Saturday!
Have a great weekend, and be encouraged that the Creator of the Universe has carved a purpose into your life!
