š Living an Intentional Life

What does it mean to be intentional?
Ok, now what does it actually, physically look like to be intentional?
Today, weāre getting intentional - not only with how we live our lives, but also with how compact and practical this edition is going to be.
So without further adoā¦
Imagine thereās a beam of light extending from right between your eyes, up into space.
Have yāall ever seen Alice in Wonderland? Thereās a scene in that movie that has been pretty damn formative for meā¦
(I probably think about that movie more than any grown man should, but eh, here we are.)
In the scene, Alice comes to a fork in the road and sheās not sure which way to go. But lucky her, there appears to be a cat in a nearby tree, so she decides to ask the cat (makes sense).
āWould you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?ā asked Alice.
āThat depends a good deal on where you want to get to,ā responded the Cheshire Cat.
āI don't much care where,ā answered Alice.
āThen it doesn't much matter which way you go, does it?ā
The lesson here is obvious. In order to make good decisions - because we all want to make good decisions - we have to know the why behind the decision!
The older I get, the more I realize that the default setting for most peopleās level of intentionality is equivalent to someone who is drunk, in the backseat of a taxi cab, being driven around anywhere the world wants to take them. Sure, they want to get somewhere, but they never truly define where, and therefore, never get there.
I donāt know about you, but I donāt want to be driven aroundā¦ I want to be in the driverās seat!
When I met Tim Tebow, he told a story that, honestly, has changed life.
āImagine that when you get to Heaven, there are two of you - the person you were and the person that you could have become. Donāt you want them to be identical?ā
Do you know what my greatest fear is?
(I swear, this isnāt some made up line for a newsletter. This actually wakes me up at night.)
My greatest fear is to live a good life.
I donāt want a good life, because as I sit at a coffee shop writing this, Iām sure the person to my left would say they live a āgood life,ā but I also just heard them say āI canāt believe I have to go back to work on Monday.ā
Same with the person on my right - they look kinda sorta content, but the words āI like my job, but...ā just came out of their mouth.
I donāt want any ābutsā at the end of my lifeā¦ and hereās what Iām doing about it:

Letās Get Hippy Dippy
Alright, so now that Iāve ranted and weāve hammered home the facts that:
Itās 1,000x easier to be unintentional than it is to be intentional
None of us want to live unintentionally
itās time to get practicalā¦ What are we going to do with this information?
Iām a firm believer that living intentionally requires you to have a vision for your life - otherwise we end up like Alice, listening to a damn cat in a tree. And the best tool that Iāve found to get stated down that path comes from a book called āThe Wise Investorā by Rich Fettke.
In the book, Rich provides a guided visualization. It takes 10 minutes and you should make time for it. Iāve never met anyone who regretted doing this.
All you have to do is:
Click the orange button below
Scroll down to āFuture Self (Audio)ā
Listen to Richās sooooothing voice and follow his instructions
Optional: When youāre done, respond to this email telling me how it went!!!
(You should also read the book. Itās a top-5 book all time for me and is still the only book Iāve ever read in one sitting. You can get it here.)
